Blast Keep Playoff Hopes Alive, Defeat Heat 9-5

Baltimore, MD (March 7, 2020) – The Blast hosted the Harrisburg Heat on Saturday night in a game with huge MASL Playoff implications. In front of a sold-out SECU Arena, 3,630 fans saw the Blast defeat the Heat 9-5.

The Blast got off to a fast start when Vini Dantas scored his team-leading 37th goal only fifteen seconds into the game. Mohamed N’diaye and Jereme Raley would record back-to-back goals for the Blast to put them up 3-0 in the first four minutes of action. Harrisburg would get on the board with a goal from Dominic Francis but the Blast would answer when Mike Deasel recorded his third goal of the season assisted by Victor France. Before the end of the quarter, Tavoy Morgan would score for the Heat and at the end of the first, the Blast led 4-2.      

The first goal of the second quarter would go to the Heat but the Blast would answer with three consecutive goals. Marco Nascimento dribbled down the side of the field beating the defense and the goalkeeper. Mike Deasel recorded his second goal of the game at the 13:22 mark assisted by Jereme Raley and before the end of the half; Juan Periera found the back of the net to put the Blast up 7-3.

Adriano Dos Santos recorded his fourth goal of the season for the Blast at the 5:15 mark in the third assisted by Lucas Roque. With four seconds remaining in the quarter, Dylan Hundelt recorded his second goal of the game for the Heat. The Blast entered the final quarter leading 8-4.  

The Heat recorded a goal at the 12:56 mark in the final quarter but could not mount a comeback. In the final minute, the Blast brought on the sixth attacker looking for an important goal because of potential postseason tiebreaker scenarios. Lucas Roque found that goal with eight seconds remaining in the game and the Blast were victorious 9-5.  

The Blast were led by Mike Deasel with two goals and had six other players record two points. In goal for the Blast, William Vanzela recorded 10 saves in the victory.  

The Blast travel to Milwaukee next weekend to take on the Wave. A win in Milwaukee would clinch a playoff appearance for the Blast.
